How to Get to Tulcea from Bucharest
Tulcea is about 300 km from Bucharest. Three ways to make the journey, and the one we recommend.
Our boat trips and tours start in Tulcea, at our boarding point inside Port Tulcea Aval. Most of our guests fly into Bucharest, about 300 km away. Here are the three ways to get from Bucharest to Tulcea.
Recommended
1. Private transfer
The easiest and fastest way. Your driver waits for you at Bucharest airport or at your address in Bucharest, and takes you straight to Tulcea: to your accommodation or to our boarding point, with no changes and no waiting around. It is also the surest way to arrive on time for the start of your tour.
Price per vehicle, one way:
- 1 to 3 guests: €300
- 4 to 6 guests: €400
- 7 to 16 guests: €700
Book the transfer together with your tour. Tell us in the booking request form that you need it, and send us your flight times. Transfers are arranged in advance, so a transfer requested the day before, or once you have landed in Bucharest, cannot be arranged.

2. By train
Trains to Tulcea leave from Bucharest North Station (Gara de Nord), which you can reach from Bucharest airport by train. In summer there is a direct train to Tulcea, but it is slow: the journey takes far longer than the 300 km would suggest. The rest of the year there is no direct train, and you change trains at Medgidia. An adventure, if you have the time for it.

3. By minibus
Minibuses and buses run between Bucharest and Tulcea, from different bus stations in Bucharest. You find the times, the companies and the departure station of each route on autogari.ro.
Travelling by train or minibus
You book your own tickets, and you make your own way to the station in Bucharest and, in Tulcea, to our boarding point in Port Tulcea Aval. From the train or bus station in Tulcea it is a short taxi ride. Plan your journey with time to spare, because the boats leave on time.
