Privacy Policy

We are a small team, and we ask only for the data we need to answer you and to organise your trip. We do not sell your data, we do not use advertising trackers on this website, and we do not send you advertising emails.

The controller of your personal data is SC Dobrogea Misterioasă SRL (Alternative Travel, brand Discover Danube Delta), Str. Erou Demetriade 55, Tulcea, Romania, trade register J36/151/2008, VAT RO23526340. For anything about your data, write to contact@discoverdanubedelta.com.

When you write to us. The forms on our Contact and For Professionals pages ask for your name, email, and optionally your phone, country, company and the details of your trip or project. The same applies when you email, call or message us on WhatsApp. We use these details only to answer you and to prepare your offer. The legal basis is the steps you ask us to take before a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

When you send a booking request. The form on the tour page asks for the program, date, accommodation, number of guests and your contact details. We use them to check availability, confirm your booking and send you the payment link (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

When you book. To organise your program we keep the names of the guests, the ages of the children (for prices and safety), your contact details, the payments made and anything you tell us about meals, allergies, health or mobility. We use them to run your program and to keep you informed before and during it: the practical details a few days before, the meeting point on the day, and the plan for the next day during multi day tours. The legal basis is our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Invoices and accounting. We issue invoices with the name and address you give us and keep accounting records as Romanian law requires (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

After your trip. We may send you one message asking for a review. This is in our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and if you tell us you do not want it, we stop.

When you visit this website. Our server keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) for security and to fix errors. To protect our forms from spam, we keep a coded version of your IP address for one hour after you send a form. This is in our legitimate interest in keeping the website safe (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use analytics or advertising tools on this website. See our Cookie Policy.

Information about allergies, diets, health or reduced mobility is given by you, only so that we can feed you safely and make sure the program suits you. We use it with your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR) and share it only with the guesthouse, guide or partner who needs it for your program. You can withdraw your consent at any time, but we may then be unable to adapt the program for you.

Bookings are made by adults. Data about children (name and age) is given to us by their parents or by the adult travelling with them. This website is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them directly.

Only the people and companies who need it for your program, and only the part they need:

• Our team: the office, and the guides and boat drivers of your program.
• Our partners on your program: the guesthouses where you stay (who must also register their guests by law), the safari car in Letea, and our local partners for programs in Greece, Bulgaria and Transylvania.
• Payments: EuPlatesc, who processes your online payment. Your card details go directly to them.
• Our service providers: the hosting company of this website (Hostico, Romania), the provider of the booking request form (contact.discoverdanubedelta.com), our email provider, and Google (Google Workspace), where we keep our booking register. They work on our instructions and may not use your data for anything else.
• Our accountant, for invoices and accounting.
• Authorities, only when the law requires it.

If you contact us through WhatsApp, Facebook or another platform, that platform also processes your messages under its own privacy policy.

We keep your data in the European Union whenever we can. Some of our providers (Google, and WhatsApp when you choose to use it) may also process data in the United States. They do so under the EU and US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

• Messages and requests that do not lead to a booking: 2 years, so we can answer if you come back to the same question.
• Bookings: 5 years after the end of your program, for complaints and legal claims.
• Invoices and accounting records: for the period required by Romanian accounting law.
• Health, allergy and diet details: deleted after your program ends.
• Server logs: a few weeks. The coded IP address used against spam: one hour.

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
• delete your data, when we no longer need it or the law does not require us to keep it;
• limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interest;
• send your data to you or to another company, in a common format;
• withdraw a consent you gave us, without affecting what we did before.

Write to contact@discoverdanubedelta.com. We answer within one month. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.

If you think we have not respected your rights, you can complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP: B-dul G-ral. Gheorghe Magheru 28-30, Sector 1, 010336 Bucharest, Romania, anspdcp@dataprotection.ro, dataprotection.ro, or to the authority in the country where you live.

Our website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to our booking register is limited to our team, and we ask our partners to keep your data confidential. No system is perfectly safe, so if you think something is wrong, please tell us straight away.

If we change how we use your data, we update this page first.
