Photography Projects in the Danube Delta and Dobrogea: Guides, Permits and Access
A book, a magazine assignment, an exhibition, a long term project in the Danube Delta and Dobrogea. You bring the vision; we bring the places, the specialised guides, the permits and the people who agree to be in your pictures.
Not a photo tour
Logistics built around your project, not around a program
A photo tour follows a plan we made. A project follows yours. You know the images you need; we know where, when and how to get you in front of them, and how to make sure you can publish them.
One species through a whole season, the life of a fishing village, the faith and traditions of the Lipovans, the ancient fortresses of Dobrogea, the landscapes of the Danube Delta from the water or from the air. Over more than twenty years we have supported photographers from many countries on books, magazine assignments, exhibitions and long term projects. We plan the places and the timing with you, and we open the doors your project needs.
What we handle
Everything between you and the picture
Places and timing
Which lake, which village, which hill, in which week, at what water level and in which light. We plan the days with you before you book a flight.
Species and research
Where your species are this season, when they breed, feed or migrate, and how to work near them without disturbance. We check it in the field, not on a map.
Specialised guides
The right person for your subject: birders, naturalists and photographer guides for wildlife, and guides who know the ethnography, the history and the culture of the Danube Delta and Dobrogea.
People who agree to be photographed
Fishermen, reed cutters, craftsmen, Lipovan families and village elders who are willing to be in your pictures, and who sign the written consent you need to publish them.
Permits and authorisations
Permits for the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and other protected areas, drone flights, archaeological sites, churches, monasteries and museums, and the owner’s consent for private houses and land.
Translators and local customs
Dobrogea is home to Romanians, Lipovans, Ukrainians, Turks, Tatars, Aromanians and more. We translate, explain the customs and tell you what is welcome and what is not.
Traditions and the calendar
Religious feasts, village celebrations, the fishing seasons, the reed harvest on the frozen Danube Delta. We tell you when things really happen, so you are there on the right days.
Boats and hides
Stable, quiet boats with room for your gear and low shooting positions, only for you and on your schedule, and hides in the Danube Delta and Dobrogea for subjects that need patience and cover.
Stay, transport and power
Accommodation close to your subjects, meals around your hours, transfers by boat and by car, and a place to charge batteries and back up your files, even in remote villages.
How we work
Respect for wildlife, for people and for your work
Wildlife first
No chasing, no baiting, no playback, and we never enter nesting areas. The approach that keeps the animals calm is also the one that gives you natural behaviour.
People, with their consent
We ask before, we explain how the pictures will be used, and we keep our word to the people who trusted us. That is why they open their doors to the photographers we bring.
Your project stays yours
Your ideas, your locations and your images are not shared with other photographers, and we never publish anything from your work without your agreement.

Questions and answers
Frequently asked questions
Do I need written consent to publish photos of people?
For a book, an exhibition, advertising and most magazines, yes: publishers usually ask for a signed model release. We find people willing to be photographed, explain the project to them in their own language and get the consent signed, so your images can be published without problems.
Can I photograph inside churches, monasteries and museums?
Often yes, with permission, and sometimes only at certain hours or without flash. Tell us where you want to work and we ask in advance, so you do not arrive to a closed door.
How long can a project last?
From a few days to several visits over a whole year. Many long term projects come back in different seasons, and we keep the plan and the contacts going between visits.
Can I work alone, without a guide in the boat?
In the Danube Delta you always need someone who knows the channels and the rules of the reserve. The guide can stay discreet, at your rhythm, and when you work from a hide we leave you alone and stay close for safety.
Can I photograph from the air?
Drone flights in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve need a permit, and some areas are closed to them. Tell us where and why, and we tell you what is possible and apply for the permit with you.
Can we combine the Danube Delta with Dobrogea?
Yes. Many projects need both: the wetlands and villages of the Danube Delta and the steppe, the hills, the gorges, the fortresses and the coastal lagoons of Dobrogea. We plan the days so that every subject gets its best season and its best light.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the days, the guides, the boats, the hides, the permits and the people involved. We publish no prices for projects: send us yours and we send you a quote.
