Your own boat, your own guide
On the private tour the boat and the guide are only for your group. You choose the program, from 3 to 7 days, and the places you want to see: the lakes and channels around Mila 23, the forests of Letea and Caraorman, the town of Sulina or the fishing village of Sfântu Gheorghe.
Because the boat is yours, you can go out at sunrise and stay away from the speed boats that take over the main channels from about 9:30. The price per person goes down as your group grows, up to 10 guests per boat.

These are nature tours, not birdwatching or photo tours. You will see birds, wildlife and beautiful landscapes, but the program, the hours and the guiding are made for nature lovers. Why we recommend at least three nights
A day trip shows you the Danube Delta from the main channels. Staying in a village lets you see it the way we see it: early in the morning, in the evening light, on the small channels and lakes that day trips never reach.
Time on the water
With three nights you have more time on the water, including the sunrise and the evening, when the Danube Delta is quiet and at its most beautiful.

Our guides choose the route by water level, season and weather, and change it on the spot when something is worth a stop.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a shared and a private tour?
On a shared tour you join other guests, on fixed dates, with a fixed program. On the private tour the boat and the guide are only for your group, you choose the start day, the length of the program and where to go each day.
Which tour should I choose for my first visit?
If you can, stay three nights: the 4 day tours include four guided boat trips, the 3 day tours three. From late April to June and in September, choose one of our shared tours in Mila 23 with a day trip to Letea Forest. In July and August, choose the Summer Nature Escape: its trips run at sunrise and in the late afternoon, away from the speed boats.
Are these birdwatching or photo tours?
No. These are nature tours, for people who want to discover the Danube Delta, its landscapes, its villages and its wildlife, at a relaxed pace. Birders and photographers need earlier departures, longer routes and specialised guides, so we run separate programs for them: see our Birdwatching tours and Photo tours.
Do the shared tours have a fixed itinerary?
Yes. Each shared tour has its program on the tour page, day by day. The guide can change the order of the trips because of the weather or the water level.
Where do we stay?
In Mila 23, in one of our partner guesthouses: Alexandru & Alexandra House, Vaida House or Fisherman’s House. All rooms have a private bathroom. You choose the guesthouse when you book, and the price depends on it.
Is the food local?
Yes. The guesthouses cook fresh fish the traditional way, along with other local dishes. Tell us about any dietary needs when you book.
Can children join?
Yes. Children under 12 pay 50% of the price, children over 12 pay the adult price. Each tour page has the details.
How do I book?
Open the tour, choose your dates and guesthouse, and send us a booking request from the tour page. We usually answer in less than 24 hours. A 20% deposit confirms your booking.
